Himmerland’s West Coast offers lots of opportunities for having children be active with fun experiences on the water and along the coast. From free play and its excitement to educational arrangements, expeditions, crab-catching and seal-watching safaris.
For free play and pure enjoyment of life Landal Rønbjerg is the place to visit in all sorts of weather. The tropical swimming and play area is a true child’s paradise in which adults can also participate. While the kids splash to their heart’s content, adults can relax in the jacuzzi. If you are more inclined to combine fun with education, the Limfjord Museum, the Stone Age Center, Naturekspeditionen and Hessel Manor offer interesting programs and adventures for the entire family during the summer months. Or what about a seal-watching safari from the Livø ferry line? Sail out and view the seal colony from the boat while the sun sets over the fjord. Daylight hours can be spent engaging in the number one children’s sport in Vesthimmerland: crab-catching. The animals can be caught with nets and a pail, set free again or brought home for supper. The many swimming jetties are perfect places to explore shoreline creatures from crabs to fjord shrimp, mussels, and small fish. Fresh air, water, animals, physical activity, jokes, fun and learning all in one.
